Canton Oil Pan - Gm baffle

I'm installing a 242t Canton pan in my 383 4 bolt Lt1 and I've found some very helpful tips here especially with regard to removing and reinstalling..... "97 RedSS" has very good info.

So the stock pan is out and I'm installing a new oil pump etc. and I see a baffle (thin metal tray) bolted to the main caps ...and so my question is:
Does this baffle stay or do I remove it ?????...there are other threads on this but I'm still unclear.
Do the Canton pans various trays replace the function of this baffle ...TIA

No not the windage tray. This is a baffle bolted to the main caps it's not in the oil pan. I'm just paranoid about getting this install right ...too much crap doing this work twice ...anyone with a Canton Pan ..please help.

does it bolt to three main cap bolt/studs and the oil pump bolt? that is the stock windage tray, it fits in every aftermarket oil pan I've tryed so far, so, leave it, I ussually see if the pan fits with no gasket, then, if it does, you're all set

If it matters now, I am not running mine..I just installed the Canton Pan..with all its trap doors/screens it should protect the crank from "windage"

G'Luck!

Thanks everyone, I see one of my problems is that the "baffle" (as Gm calls it) and "windage tray" are the same part ...my error ...
I learn something every day ....so I'll keep the windage/baffle and install the Canton pan ...wish me luck !

Here's an update ...
Remove the Gm windage tray ..you don't need it and the Canton 242t pan won't fit with it anyway. Canton told me this and I confirmed it last night when trying to install the pan.
You don't need the stiffening rails either ...the bolts are'nt long enough ....the Canton pan won't require them
I post a install guide later.
Thanks all for your help.

...I used the stiffening rails.....you will just get a couple of threads when starting them.....but after using a torque wrench on 'em, they are fine.....I would suggest using the rails too, as my Canton LEAKED LIKE AN S.O.B. the first time I put it on.....

That was put on IN THE CAR, so the environment may have led to the leaks, I just redid it with an engine rebuild OFF THE CAR....so we will see the difference this time...
