Canton Oil Pan?
Re: Canton Oil Pan?
Canton had to modify my pan#15-242T to clear clear my left side cat. Since cutting off that corner it went from a 6 qt. to a ??? qt. system (eliminated the low oil pressure sending unit hole). How do I tell how much oil I should use? Canton says remark the dipstick when you put in the required amount but now that's changed. And the required amount is different depending on which filter you use (long or short). Any suggestions? I have had an issue with the oil pressure dropping from 70 lbs to 40 lbs at high RPM WOT and by lowering the oil level it has helped but not solved the problem.
Also that Canton pan now rubs on my steering rack. Has anyone else had these issues? This was supposed to be their most consevative, bolt-in, no modifications, road race pan for my '97 Camaro. Anyone else using this pan? What did you do?

I'm the guy with the Extreme Duty failure like yours.
My 242T worked fine but I do have a Caprice wagon. I changed the oil filter adapter on my block to take the big filter. If I fill with 7 quartz I'm slightly over.
If you have small stock filter I'll guess you will have a 6 quart capacity with the left side removed.
Where does that put you on the dip stick?
