cant start 93 trans am

The engine stopped as I was waiting for the green light at a crossing(it was at idle).
I tryed 7-8 times to start and it finally started. Then I drove for a while, but when I pushed the accelerator all the way, the engine almost stopped running and I could see the headlights flickering. When I accelerated slowly the engine revved up ok.I turned off the engine. I couldnt get it started since(8 months ago).
I checked the spark -seems ok, i put a test light on the injectors connectors- seemed ok too. Checked the fuel pressure, but without a gage- pressing the schrader valve a little fuel came out, 10 cm up.
Trying to start the car, some mechanics broke the fuel pump, and the starter motor runs slowly and noisy.
What do you think the original problem was? A weak fuel pump or other problem(opti)?
I live in europe and i cant find a mechanic who can fix mmy pontiac without breaking something else, so I have to do it myself. HELP

had you recently got the engine wet? My Opti went this way, but do not blame it immediately, there could be something else thats the culprit. Did it throw any SES lights?

have you ever changed the fuel filter?

Sounds like fuel delivery issue, check fuel filter and possibly your altinator....

check the fuel pressure with a gauge. The pressure should shoot up to over 40psi when you put the key to on for the pump to prime and should hold there without dropping off. when you start the car it should stay high around 40 but drop slightly.

If that tests fine look at the ignition components.

Cool

Where in Europe?I was in Switzerland a couple of years ago,and I saw 2 Trans-ams there.Anyway, you may have built up condensation in the gas tank if the tank sat for a long time.I would change the gas filter first(behind the drivers side rear wheel). Then,I would check the coil terminal for corrosion, might replace the coil wire while you are there.Next I would check the MAP sensor and it's wires going to it.(It sits on the top of the intake manifold, black, about 2 inches by 3 inches or so.That one really killed my engine(II thought). Also,be sure you have a very powerful battery. If you are loosing antifreeze(coolant),chances are it is leaking from the water pump, down onto the distributor(optispark).Hope this helps.

Cool

You must use a pump that uses about 38 to 43 psi,I believe.Hope this helps.

If the regulator is working it will bring it down.
