I have 255s on the back of my car, and they are not huge for the weight of the car, they are not much more than stock. Traction control will have some effect, but even with stock power and 160 treadwear 255s I can burnout just fine, I do have a stick though.

A somewhat soft tire heated up being driven on a track, will flake off producing "tire boogers."
I got a 97 Z auto and i cant spin them either dont feel bad although i have the firstone ss20's dont know how much of a diffrence but hu hum i got hooker lt's and ran open headers today holly **** it lit them down the block buddy! the people who are saying there smoking theirs im sure are manuals and i have 3.23 so dont feel bad and the autos might have a tq converter!
when I bought my 94Z A4 with 2.73's I had the same issue ! the car ran a 14.14 at 100mph bone stock down to the paper filter so it was not running bad it just happend to hook up really well! once I got some boltons the great hook up was gone and the smoke started.
time the car at the track and see what you run , that way you can tell if the times are par and the motor is healthy, I wouldn't say that not spinning the tires is necesserelly a bad sign.

my car is the same way. i had just some regular tires on when i bought the car and i could not break them loose at like 5mph. i have an m6 with 3.42's. my car is not running bad either. i beat another camaro that ran low 14's at the track. the tire pressure has a lot to do with it. if i stayed at the recommended 35psi, i would hook good given a decent road. after i seafoamed the engine, cleaned a few parts like iac, throttle body, egr valve etc., i would slightly spin the tires going really slow. now i am not dropping the clutch trying to spin them i am just taking off from 5mph or so. if i ran around 30psi or lower, my traction was crap. first gear was useless and part of second was too. it just won't hook up without the proper psi. my car is all stock so its not a big power horse or anything like that. i wouldn't be complaning if i was hooking really good given that your car is not running slow.
i guess it really depends on the specific car. i still have the 2.73's in and i have some decent tires, but i can get going sideways from a stop if i mash the pedal down. i am an A4.. maybe some peoples auto's just act a little differently than others. also, many people have mods. there are many factors. my advice would be drive somebodys auto z28 that is stock, and see how it feels to your stock car. and then go through and check plugs, wires......
good luck
good luck
I have 2.73's in my car with bfg's out back and it doesn't spin from a dead stop unless I turn off the traction button. Have you tried that yet? I know it seems obvious but, only one other person has said anything about traction control. I would say try that but still my car doesn't spin all the way through first gear either with the traction off or on. It does spin a lot more with it off though
Just my 2 cents but try that and see what happens.

Don't have traction control so thats not the issue......Have a bunch of bolt ons and i still dont spin much. With transgo shift kit my car should be chirping sideways on 1-2 shift but it doesnt for some reason.
