cant spin the tires? 94 z

just bought a 94 z28 auto and this may be normal but i can not spin the tires from a stand still. in my old 91 ford thunderbird sc auto which had about 225 hp and 320 lb ft of torque i could light em up just from mashing the gas to the floor at a light. Is my new Z not able to do this? if not why?

thanks

That doesn't sound normal to me Mine usually spins differently in different situations more or less but on street tires it will spin to a certain extent regardless.

Yea, something seems funny. Almost any car will spin the wheels a bit when you punch it from a dead stop. Did you make sure 4 of the plug wires arent disconnected?

in the summer when the streets are really hot i can mash it from a light and barely spin at all before taking off, but in cooler weather it posis up and starts sliding sideways without moving forward very fast.

the car doesnt seem slow, however i have never been in or driven a z28 before. i have hugeeee 255's on the back 2. it has been reasonably cold here (about 40-50). And i have yet to spin them on dry pavement. How can i tell if the car is lacking power, and what should i look for?

thanks

i think it's running lean.....my 94 z can not spin the 215 on the back sometimes......lack of torque, but sometimes, it can spin the tires all the through 1st gear.......i think my opti is bad...you might wanna check that......good luck dude

are your tires z rated and do you got the 2.73 gears, that combo will defitnely not spin your tires.

wouldn't z rated tires be easier to spin because they're harder?

Z rated are more sticky and a softer tire i believe, therefore they burn up faster too.

My 95 will get spin thru 2nd with traction control shut off. Not sure on 94 but if it has ASR (traction control) you need to shut it off mine has a switch but you may need to pull the relay, anyone else familiar with this
