can't get cruise control cable re-installed -- lost part?
Re: can't get cruise control cable re-installed -- lost part?
whatever version Ace has, that's the bracket I need. Ace, can you illuminate on the issue? i've posted in the parts forum looking for a new bracket. no bites yet.
Re: can't get cruise control cable re-installed -- lost part?
Well, the above does shed light on why you were having so much trouble.
The bracket I have is from a 96 Z28 without traction control. From what I can gather from the GM parts PDF, there are different brackets for traction control and non traction control models.
I have not changed brackets or cables. They have been on the car since I bought it(in 1999...it was a one owner).
Also as Shoebox mentioned, there is a difference between the 93 and 94-97 models.
Edit....there is an NW9(traction control) section in the Fbody parts manual, but the bracket number is the same for the 94-97 models. So that still puts the traction control bracket as 10192221.....only two type brackets. I thought I was dealing with three when looking at the way the parts manual is sectioned out.
93 = 10226089
94-97 = 10192221
There is something interesting in the parts manual. It lists the above, but there is a 93-94 accelerator control section and a 95-97 accelerator control section. Could be a goof up in the manual and the 93-94's might be different from the 95-97 units....but if Shoebox's car is a 95 and he got his picture from it...then that nukes that idea....unless maybe his was an early 95 and they were using up old inventory.
One example of that is my heads. I got the better head(374) for porting..and not the typical 96-97 head (448 or 561...I think those were the numbers...not sure). My 96 was an early model.

Re: can't get cruise control cable re-installed -- lost part?
Looks to be a few on ebay.....you would need to verify the type.
94-97 LT1 Camaro Corvette Throttle Cable Bracket | eBay
96 Camaro LT1 THROTTLE CABLE BRACKET Trans Am 350 94 95 | eBay
GM Parts - Genuine Replacement GM Parts - New GM Parts appears to have 10192221 for $11.87. May need to call and discuss the differences and to make sure the part is returnable if it is not the correct type. I've ordered from them for years and they have treated me well. Shipping is not rip off either.

proof is in the pudding -- here's two brackets -- looks like the 94/95 is different from the 96/97:
