delteq problems

well i'm basicly fustrated with mine and am going to pull it back out . i bought tjis kit new frm pace performance about two moths ago , it fired right up but i was never able to rid of this miss , it was totaly random . i thought maybe it was a bad ground or power so I wired it to a relay , ran new ground , it would blink the led off for maybe a second then come back , logged it with the scanner , computer never sees anything , then i caused a bigger problem it was putting unurned fuel down the cats and burned one up , there is absolutely no support for this thing , so i cut the module up to see if it had a cold sodler joint and to my suprise the module was made 5 years ago i have pics of it if anyonewants to see , anyway i am so fusterated with this stuipid set up , also i put a new ignition module , taylor wires, diffrent coil packs, narrowed it down to the delteq module .and sense theres no parts avalible i'm finish dumping money into this system , i'm going ltcc next

Friend chevyinside, I'd like to see what the inside of the box looks like, maybe you could email me a jpeg douglassr@webtv.net ? I feel our pain as right now there is no support from Delteq; when I got my kit two years ago I talked to JC Hyde many times on the phone, very nice, smart guy, pleasure to do business with. The Delteq is basically a good system, for several reasons; easy to change spark plug wires, easy to swap out all the other parts, much easier than factory antway. But with no support, it ain't worth a damn. I would not want to be in JC's shoes, but I wish he'd at least transfer the business to someone else, he worked with a couple other guys to R&D the thing, maybe somewhere down the road, but for folks who are having problems right now, don't mean much.

Freind ssbowtie1, tell me about Itcc, I might switch to that if it's an easy system.

I've only driven my new set-up a few short trips, so far so good.

Thanks, Douglas

Many years ago, when the Delteq first appeared, many people got sucked in by the "coming soon" claim of a Stage 2 unit that would completely eliminate the Opti, and an indication they would be able to upgrade for a reasonable cost. That amounted to little more than false advertising.

My Delteq runs like a champ. I've had the base plate screw problem, but JC sent a new plate. The only other problem was a loose connector.

The opti is a piece of junk and even though there are good reports for those few that haven't broken, it's still a horrible design and I would never give up my Delteq unless it caught fire.

Lucky me, mine sits under the Ram Air hood scoop port and I've had no problems with coils or excess heat.

Many people have had good experience with Delteq including myself, yeah they promised the stage 2 but it never came so get over it Injuneer. I have had mine on for over 3 years without any problems.

Last I heard, I'm free to post my opinions here just like anyone else. Got burned 10 years ago by JC Hyde. Sad to see it happen again.

Have a nice day.

Looks like the Bailey is almost same as Delteq, I think if I had to abandon my Delteq I'd go back to factory. I found a couple smart kids who are in Jr college auto class that will do the work for $175 plus parts. They will modify the spark plug wire ends, so don't have to go back to under exhaust manifold with those saving that headache.

I don't see any pics on this board because I run WebTV, don't know what's with that.

My car has been out of commission the last few days, had to get a new battery and a new starter. It's good to go now, I'll see if my new Delteq set-up is going to work. I'm thinking of getting four new coils from Advance Auto, only $25 each, that way the whole thing will be new parts. When it was sitting on the exhaust manifold might have fried them too.

Heat is the enemy of Delteq, my advice to Delteq owners is to move the opti-box somewhere far away from the suggested location, you need to make the one harness longer but worth the effort.

No sense raking Mr. Hyde over the coals, what's done is done. He made good on folks who got bad boxes and also with direct person to person support. It pisses all of us off but there's nothing we can do about it. I wish him the best and hope he's up and running soon.

Thanks, Douglas

+1 here. I wish him all the best and for the time Delteq was an ingenious product and kinda sucks that the support is not really there anymore. Heck who knows they may be back up and running again, I hope so!!!

Man that really sucks, I hate to see when people do this stuff.

I know some of you guys are smart enough to come up with this type thing.........someone steal his idea and come out with a new one..

Today I bought four new coils from Advance Auto, ain't gonna install 'em just yet. Tomorrow I'm going on a 280mi one way road trip, if my new set-up fails, this will be a test. Today I drove all around doing errands, no failures, thank God. These short trips, stop and go, is what manifested the too much heat condition in the first place. I'll report back after the weekend, thanks, Douglas
