?????? Cant figure this one out.. Please help

ok so i recently started having problems with my car and it just wouldnt start very easy. I took it to the local shop and had it scanned and it threw a mass air flow sensor code, i got a new M.A.F. and now the car wont even try to start, i put the old one back in it to see if it would even try and i have had no luck with either one any more, What else could be causing this is there another sensor that could cause that code or did i get a bad part? I ordered the M.A.F. from GM and it is a AC Delco sensor. its really starting to get me confused its been down about two weeks now and i dont know what to do. Any help is much appreciated

Did you clear the codes when you installed the new maf (If so, has it set the same code or any others). LF

Try scanning it again also check for fuel and spark. Shoeboxes site has a lot of info for doing this. LF

Will it start with the MAF unplugged?

That sounds like the engine coolant temp. sensor. Shoebox has some trouble shooting info on this sensor on his site. LF

I said ect sensor in my previous reply because my 95 had the ect sensor go out. Mine would start after many tries and but I had to hold the engine at 3000rpm for a couple of minutes are it would shut off , it sounded like it was flooding. My scan tool was showing the ect sensor at a low temp(5 or 10 deg F) and it was a 90deg F summer day. I don't think mine threw any codes. LF

There's only one MAF code in OBD-I, and that's for the electrical circuit. Check the harness connector for damaged pins or wires. Check the pink wire in the MAF harness connector for 12V, measuring to the black/white ground wire in the connector.

You can scan the PCM for codes any time the key is in the "run" position. The engine does not have to be running.

well i checked the wires for the voltage and it was fine i am going to try and make it to the shop again to get it scanned but i am not sure if i can make it there. But it will be tomorow before i can try that seeing as how its sunday lol but i didnt know if this just sounded like another problem other than the mass air flow, the guy i took it to didnt tell me the code he just said that is what it was so i just took his word for it and just wasted money on that cause it didnt fix the problem and he is the only guy around here that has the obd 1 scanner that has the harness to fit the car
