cannot get oil pressure gauge to work
it worked when i pulled the engine but i broke the oil pressure switch while pulling it but i bought a new one ...now i just built this engine and im scared that the engine may not have oil pressure ....now my question is how can i check to see if its the switch or the engine ...like i said both are brand new so it could be either and i dont want to lock my engine up to find out which one it is any help will be appreciated
Re: cannot get oil pressure gauge to work
What he said. There's a plug right above the oil filter on the 94+ Lt1's that you can hook up a manual gauge

Make sure that the harness is all right. I had a problem where my CTS on my 89 TA kept giving me trouble. It turned out that the female part of the wiring harness was bent and not making contact

Re: cannot get oil pressure gauge to work
I used an SBC priming tool and hooked a meter to the pressure sensor. I was able to take the resistance readings while priming and calculate how much pressure that roughly equated to.
Re: cannot get oil pressure gauge to work
what shoebox is saying isnt hard. get a mulitmeter and a priming tool and prime the motor. have a buddy put the leads on the 2 terminals inside the end of the pressure sensor while you are priming. and the reisistance should change if you are getting pressure.
