Anyone else just cut open the airbox so the entire filter is exposed? Does this do much, and if I did this, then went CAI, would I notice a difference in that?

I didn't really feel the difference, but you can definetly hear the difference because it sucks so much more air

The advantage that your getting with the CAI is that the filter on most of them is located in the fender well, sucking in the coolest air near the ground. This will give great HP gains, so you can't go wrong.

mine felt a bit quicker, throttle response is the main point (car revs up much quicker)... its just somethin you have to do eventually and its cheap so why not

When I installed the SLP I didnt really feel a difference, maybe cus of the speed density set up, felt better in the upper rpms though obviouslly. Then I had a Dynomax ultra flow catback installed, and I definitely felt it, might have came from the help of the SLP though too. Throttle response was better with both as well.

i dont have my K&N CAI yet, but it will DEFINATLY be my next mod~

to your question of is SLP loudmouth loud??? well.... yes, yes it is.
not quite as loud as the guys running cut-outs and headers etc. but concidering its street legal exhaust without a muffler, i definatly turn heads, and if your a teenager like me you will love the attention (p***y) (envy) (etc.)!!!
the power gain was good too, my friend said he noticed the pull alot more where as i noticed it just a little more.

I felt alot, but I'm not sure how much came from the CAI. One day I turned my car of with a cat-back, and the next time I started it I had...

Headers
160 stat
!TB
Magnecore wires
New plugs
CAI
Airfoil

So I definatly felt it!

I've just got my airbox cut open, would it still be worth it to get CAI now, or should I use the money toward something else? I am wanting to eventually go Ram-Air when I can afford the hood, which is why I've put off getting CAI and just opened my airbox.

Slp says that the loudmouth system gives you 15-20 hp, probably more like 15. its $350 and it sounds great even at idle, most exhaust systems out there are alot alike, except loudmouth is just a 3" pipe from the cat with a small resonator and no muffler.

I didn't feel a difference with the CAI, but I felt a huge difference with gears.

i can only answere 2 questions here. i thought the best sound is the borla... but in recent events it came to my attention that the x pipe is definatly the best soudning and best hp gain

go with a custom x pipe you won't be sorry

lingenfelter has a cai that is only 150. to me all are the same but this one was as cheap as i could find them
