can someone tell me what this bolt does... (LT install)

hey im puttin my passenger side longtube in and its rubbing against a bolt underneath the injectors. it is just above where the block mates to the head, there are 8 of them all in a row beneath the exhaust ports. i need to remove the one closest to the back of the car. what does the bolt do and is it going to leak oil or anything if i pull it out? its rubbing the header's mating surface so i cant get it up in there. thx

You definetely don't want to remove that bolt... LOL. Those are the bolts that hold the head to the block, along with some other ones in the valve covers.

My car is not here, but are you talking about the bolt that the starter grounds to? Any wires going to it.

It maybe to hold on the shield that the spark plug wires ran along?

Any way to get around that? Heres my 2 cents unbolt the motor mounts and jack up the motor makes it alot easier to get the headers in.

There's two ways to due it. Some people remove the one long bolt that goes through the motor mount. I personally found this a real PITA! I removed the three bolts that bolt the motor mount to the frame of the car. I found this much easier.
I removed the passanger side motor mount and passanger side valve cover. Then I used a 12" wide piece of wood to distrubute the weight and jacked up the engine about 6" with the jack under the oil pan (BTW, you'll destroy the oil pan if you don't use a piece of wood or similiar to distribute the load across the oil pan surface.)
After that the header slipped in FROM THE TOP. I installed Jet-Hot LT's... but they're pretty close in size and shape to the Hookers.
Good luck... it took me 2 1/2 hours to get the header in/ bolted up on the passanger side.
