Can Pressure Plates be surfaced?
Can Pressure Plates be surfaced?
Im kind of new to clutches and i was wondering if pressure plates can be surfaced to remove hotspots? Its almost a brand new centerforce dual friction clutch and i pulled it out to sell it and i would like to get rid of the hotspots before i do so, anyone know?
Any help appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan

I would assume they could be, however, it's not advised.
I'm in the process of replacing my Street Twin, and was planning on doing just that. I was going to buy new disks, and resurface the flywheel, floater plate, and pressure plate. I called McLeod just to check, and they said not to. They said the pressure plate is basically a throw-away item.
So now I am going to use the rebuild kit which basically replaces the heatshield on the flywheel, (aluminum) and the pressure plate. You get new disks, and resurface the floater plate.
Since you only have one disk, and no floater, the advise would be to replace the pressure plate, and resurface the flywheel.
