A4 gear selector is off

When the car is put in P, it's actually in R! All the other gears seem to be equally off. (i.e. R doesn't engage unless you jiggle the shifter while pushing forward, toward P. Is this just transmission linkage related, or could something be seriously wrong. I just had the tranny rebuit a little over a year ago. I have a different shop in mind that I'd like to take my car to, but they do NOT specialize in transmissions. So is it simple enough that they could fix it, or do I need to go to a transmission shop specifically?

If the problem is not the bracket on the transmission being loose, you can use these instructions to adjust the cable.
