Can oil pressure be too high

Can oil pressure be too high

as asked above, can it?

through out the rpm range my pressure has been reading 70-75...

is this ok?

It ok for high RPM, but not normal for idle! Does the gage ever move? If not it sounds to me like it's running on the internal bypass spring all the time, which indicates a restricion somewhere downstream of the pump.

I'd start with a new filter.

i just replaced all the gaskets and changed the oil and filter...
i also installed a new sending unit...
the guage does move...
i noticed the high pressure right after i adjusted my rocker arms...

before i messed with the engine the pressure would be between 40-60...

mine was never below 40-50 with the stock pump

Yes. I always ran the same oil in it since new...castrol GTX
always was 40 at idle and the gauge was pegged at 7K

i have a new filter...

could my valve lash be over adjusted?

Has it always been that way? Do any thing latley to the car that might have a bearing on this? Have you tryed to hook up another gauge to confirm this high reading?

I have used a few different types of filters if the Delco's are out of stock
But I think most of them have a bypass

no I think it was....some filter work differently, could be a problem with it, I think thats why he asked what type it was
