Can my csi pump have an internal short? Won't stop blowing fuses!

I've had my csi pump hooked up fine with no probs for about 6 months. Welp, today I changed my plugs and went out for a drive. It was fine for about 1 mile, then I went WOT and when I reached about 6000rpm, the car shut down. I checked the fuses, and sure enough it was my ignition fuse, which is where the csi pump is wired in...Just to get home, I tried putting in a bigger fuse (20) and it still blew immediately..I had to drive home about 1 mile with no WP...it didn't overheat though But, no matter what I do with the wiring on my csi pump, as soon as I turn the ignition key to "on" it blows the fuse. All the wiring looks fine, doesn't seem to be grounding itself anywhere or anything...could it be shorting inside the csi itself? I need to get this fixed, I want to go to the track tonight

Edit: I just tried wiring the pump directly to the battery to make sure it still works, but as soon as I touched the positive cable on the battery it threw sparks everywhere...I probably could've done a little welding if I wanted too And the pump didn't run... doesn't look like I'm makin it to the track

I think your CSI is shot. Mine went out after about 8mos. of use and I sent it back to them and they repaired it under warranty. Sorry but stick your stocker back on there for now. Later

Are you running a relay so it isolates the circuit from everything else? If not, the WP pulls in 9amps which would be blowing your fuse with the ignition and WP on the same circuit..Use a relay to prevent this

I had my csi pump do the same thing, what happened in my case is that the seal in the pump goes and flooded the electrical motor. I had coolant leaking out the seams of the csi motor! It ran like that till I got home (JB weld really can save you sometimes) which was 500 miles away(had no choice stuck between reno and salt lake city). My pump is wired with a circuit breaker and luckly it only blew twice. Like everyone else said....keep the stocker or carry a spare pump

97 RedSS..no I am not running a relay. I always planned on adding one and wiring the csi correctly, but it lasted 6 months using just a 10amp fuse for both it and the ignition. I was basically too lazy to wire it correctly b/c it was working as-is. I guess I'll add one now So I guess I'll add a relay, if that doesn't work I'll probably be sending my pump back to CSi for a lil repair. Its not a big deal, I never drive the damn thing anyways
