Can me and 2 of my friends install jet hot lt's in 6hrs on a lift?

one of my friends just graduated from a mechanic school and i only have the lift for around 6 hours maybe a few more so is it possible to install the lt's in that time also do you think i could drive about 8 blocks so i can wait to the next day to finish the exhaust work and arranging the plug wires without burning any?

If you're good you can do it.

No one here can answer that for you

Route the wires away from the headers and you should be fine. I drove a few days with open headers. It's great

If you know what you are doing and your two friends are decent help I think you could do it but it will be close. The passenger side should install from the bottom. The car will be fine driving around with open headers but I would secure plug wires and other items that could melt prior to driving anywhere. I'd say go for it as long as you have a back up or worse case scenario plan if you don't make it. How strong are your friends? Can they push a heavy f-body eight blocks?

Me and 2 of my buddies put my long tubes on in about 4 1/2 hours......that was get in and getting it done.....that should give you ample time to get the wires run and other lil issues....But this was the 2nd set so we had an idea as to what we were doing.....I was surprised when my pass. side header just went right up in there.....Just took the starter off and up she went....one thing that slowed us down was we had to remove the steering knuckle to get the old edels off...that took a lil time.....

It is not that getting LT's in the car is hard, it is getting those damn exhaust manifolds off quickly.

If you have one guy work the passenger side, one guy work the driver's side, and one guy unbolt the exhaust, you will do it in record time.

Do as much work as possible before taking it to the lift. Remove all the manifold bolts the day before or thread them out so you could easily remove them the next day. That will save a lot of time on the lift. You will be able to drive it 8 blocks to the lift without any problems. You're car will run terrible on the way there.

Use any type of liquid wrench on the bolts and air fittings before starting work. I usually spray some on a few times the previous day and they come right out. Don't forget antiseize on the new bolts and I recommend getting some Felpro header gaskets and Stage 8 locking bolts.

These are some great ideas. If you use stage 8 bolts it might take a while to get the locks on but no worries. You can install the locks later after you have driven the car home.

So the hardest part of doing a LT header install is taking out the factory manifolds, not putting in the new headers?

If so, then I won't be as worried once I end up doing mine. I replaced the stock pass side manifold last month because the factory one had cracked, and I anti-seized all the bolts, so this way will be MUCH less work removing the pass side.

Make sure you can run the plugs/wires in the parking lot of the place your using the lift, because I doubt your gonna be able to do all that in 6 hours. bring a jack/stands with you so you can get under the front to attach the wires to the opti if your using new ones (and you should if they aren't already new).

A friend and I installed my SLP shorties, new O2's, plugs, wires, looms, etc in about 22 hours, which included drilling out the old bolts in the headers, cutting the cat off the old Y-pipe, having to rethread stripped out Y-pipe flange nuts, and making our own cut to fit wires.
