can I start my car with the crank pulley off?

can I start my car with the crank pulley off?

I am checking a opti and want to starty it with the pulley of to see if it work, is this ok? the hub is still on it.

it should be okay just dont rev it or let it run long. there wasa recent thread about this. you might look it up for a little more info.

i know you can do it without the waterpump... not sure about the pulley... its not as much of a PITA as the waterpump is... better save then sorry...
Although i did like Daves answer the best...

, just got it running with my new delteg and auto zone opti, it runs great. thanks
