can I start the car with no coolant?

can I start the car with no coolant?

I finishing up my opti install and I need to know if I can start the car without coolant, but with the waterpump installed?

I have always started cars without coolant to listen to the engines, or move them. Just do't run it more than a minute. FYI, the temperature gage will not read anything if there is no liquid in the coolant system.
