Can I run open headers for about 25 miles?

Well i have jet hot lt's not completely installed yet ripped a gasket now i have to order new ones. So i'm going to get that done and all my wires out of the way ovc spark plug wires on then run it to the exhaust pro shop to get my mufflex hooked up to my hooker catback. How loud will it be and can i do this have any of you ran yours that long? How will it run? and this will be the last vehicle i ever put headers on!!

I'm pretty sure you don't mean this, but do you mean..no headers on the car? Or just no Y-pipe? No Y-pipe is a go....No Headers is a No. Without headers you will melt evey plastic piece under your hood and WILL start a fire. LTs open shoudl be fine. I did this not to long back, just make sure nothing is hanging down my them or it will melt. You'll be good though. IT'LL BE LOUD!!!

it will be very very loud and shake the crap out of the car. I think you'll be just fine though since longtubes exit low enough. The reason running open headers all the time is bad is because the valves cool too fast when you shut it down. 1 heat cycle isn't going to do squat though. that is regurgetated internet tech talk though, i've never experienced it firsthand. I think most people take it for a spin with open headers just to pretend they are in a topfuel car for a day.

Yeah and if you're running rich enough without O2's you might even get flames out of there if you WOT it a few times. Then you can really feel like a Top Fueler!
