If you wanted to disable the valves, removing the rocker arms and pushrods would be a whole lot easier than pulling lifters.

ACK.

That's also a great way to have your lifters playing impact hammer on your cam. I'm hoping you weren't serious....

The lifters will start to push out against their roller lifter guides, spend the retainer spider and start to hit the cam at tremendous speeds... ever seen what happens to a cam when a rocker backs off? I have, and I've got a new 355 b/c of it.

This is one thread full of VERY BAD IDEAS. Christ this has to be the *worst* thread in cz28.com history.

Dude, I know a couple guys that ran around for a while before they could afford a rebuild on 7 cyls by doing what everyone has been saying, just remove the injector plug from that cyl...

Everything will be fine, and if it is just a quick trip to the store and back your computer won't even start to compensate for it...

So you want him to pull the intake, pull the lifters and pushrods, reinstall the intake, then drive to the parts store to get a new spark plug wire If he pulls his intake he'll need intake gaskets too. You think he has them laying around, but not a spark plug wire You're talking a whole days work to replace that wire! That is seriously one of the craziest things Ive ever heard, lmao! I still cant believe that. R&R of the intake twice for a spark plug wire!!!!

If you have to drive it at all, it wouldnt be a bad idea to unplug the injector so you dont wash your cylinder with fuel. I would recommend just walking, riding a bike, or hitching a ride from a friend to get a new wire

Re: can I run 7 Cylinders?

This thread was quite funny. Here's the story I needed to Drive my car to a lift, so I could get underneath it to replace the plug wire. I ended up rerouting the wire somehow to get an extra half inch to get me there. Thanks for all the info...lol though at some of the ideas. Especially the intake job.

Re: can I run 7 Cylinders?

I ran mine unknowingly with wire 6 and 8 not properly crimped for over 100+ miles one day down the turnpike after a long weekend doing a header install. Recrimped, ran the car a bunch of times at the track with it's best times and no problems but I did eventually have to replace the rear O2 sensor on the passenger side.
