can I run 7 Cylinders?

I just finished checking my Spark plug wires. Ever since I found a burnt plug end, I made it my business to search for others. I now fount one completely burntout plug wire. I ended up damaging the end of it removing the plug so I had to shorten it a bit and put on a new boot to hold me through. The bad part is that now the wire is too short. I messed up by about half an inch. My question is will it be ok to run the car as is with only 7 cylinders down to the auto shoppe tommorow where I can fix it... or what?

it will run, but it won't be good at all for your car. Get a ride from someone.

yes but i would say pull the injector wire as to not dump gas into the exhaust and foul the o2 sensor that costs bucks....and your car will think its rick if you dont unplug this and cause all the other cylinders to lean out...it should be alright dont do it for long though...

Your car will begin thinking its lean at that point to... the best thing would be to pull the intake and pull the lifters for that cylinder...

Pulling lifters for that cylinder? Pulling an intake? Get a buddy's ride or grab a bike if you are super concerned.

for sure. A car will run on 7 cylinders, anyone ever had a bad injector or any other type of dead miss? Just be easy on it, and don't drive it any more than you have to.

Re: can I run 7 Cylinders?

i dont see why it would think its lean if you pull the injector? possibly slightly...but i think its better than dumping gas...anyways yes ive had a miss beofre and driven it almost 2k before i could find the dam thing out(i have a big cam so miss kinda blends in with the choppyness)
it will be fine...i beat on it like this also...(wish i hadent) but from your house to your mechanice youll be fine

Running on 7 cylinders, with one cylinder pumping fuel but no spark, is a big nono in my opinion. The fuel will wash off the oil from the cylinder wall, and you will end up with broken rings or scuffed cylinder.
