Can I put a 97 Wiring harness/Computer in my 95 and be ok?
Re: Can I put a 97 Wiring harness/Computer in my 95 and be ok?
They're the same number of pins, as you know.. but I'd be weary, as the 95 (OBDI) doesn't have many of the sensors that the 97 (OBDII) has.. I wouldn't even be suprised if some of the pins were used for different purposes on the 95 when compared to the 96/97.. I'd definetly wait for a response from shoebox or injuneer or someone with more experience before you try it..
Edit: I think I misunderstood your post the first time I read.. I was thinking you just wanted to use the 97 harness... No, the 97 computer will not work on the 95, as you're missing lots of the extra OBDII sensors on your 95 (OBDI) car... If it ran at all, I'm sure it would run like $h!t.. and you'd have an eternal SES light.. but I wouldn't be suprised if it didn't even run..

Beside missing the crank position sensor, the 97 computer will be looking for rear O2 sensors (after the cat) and a different knock sensor valve. I'm sure there's additional differences too.

Ok I mistyped alittle.... I have a complete 97 drivetrain going in with 97 computer, harness, engine and trans. Will I be ok running this stuff in a 95 since Im technically replacing everything minues the main power harness for lights/blinkers, etc..etc..????

Kk number one the car WILL run w/o the cps(crank sensor) it will just throw a code, i lived this first hand, it is just for finding missfires. Rear o2's can be programmed out of a OBD2 car, which i also did b4 going to OBD1.
