can i make the 97 opti conector work on a 93 opti
can i make the 97 opti conector work on a 93 opti
I really dont want to go thru all the trouble of swapping the timming cover dowl pin and all from my 93 engine to put in my 97
so is it posable to splice the wires to work with the 93 opti?

change the connector.
The 93 engine dosn't have a crank position sensor in the timming cover like the 97. To turn the SES light off your gonna have to have the ECM programed to ignore it. Either that or you can do an OBD I conversion.

Just get the 93-4 opti electrical harness.. [plugs into harness by passenger side intake]
There should be quite a few floating around peoples garages that have removed one when upgrading to later vented opti's [and the vented opti harness they had to buy]
Probably someone would sell you one real cheap..
I am not POSITIVE that the 'late' [vented] won't fit the 'early' [unvented]..
I DO know the 'early' won't fit the 'late' tho..['late' has a longer connector] Have you tried the 'late' connector into the 'early' opti? I'd be interested to find out for sure if it fits or not..
I have one here[vented opti harness] and would try it [I still have an unvented opti on the car], but unplugging that unvented on the opti it is tricky to get back on..
