I called jegs with that part # 249-07-503-8
he said that was the biggest cam you can put in a LT1.
You had to have mods to use it and different gears. (rough idel) very

I thought the cc 305 was like a step bigger than stock for
the lt1. I heard you could use it without much mods.

Are we talking about the same cams??

The 305 is 07-305-8

Read on this forum a bunch more, there is a lot to learn about cams.

The 305 is a mild cam and it will work very well as long as you have the basic supporting mods to go with it. It's no where near being the biggest cam you can stuff in an lt1!

 

The 305 requires the use of different valve springs, a small stall converter (auto) and likes gears of 3.73 or lower. I love mine, I am just going with a bigger one in my 383.
