Can i get a good set of heads for 3000.00
I was thinking about eather buing a new set of ported and pollished heads or having my stock heads reworked. I have both lt1 and lt4 intake manafolds. Just wondering what you guy think i should do. I have 3000.00 to spend.
I would call one of the supporting vendors on here and see what they suggest. They will be able to help you out the most with your specific application. Advance Induction and Bauer Engines are two supporting vendors that come to mind. Good luck.
After looking through past threads on the topic, (and knowing basically squat about porting heads or picking a cam or about rockers, or lifters) I came to the conclusion that the best way to go for price and quality was to send a stock set to Lloyd Elliot to have them ported. That is what I did about two months ago and I'm very happy with the deal. He has various packages, the cheapest being about $800 (that could be a little off) for ported heads using the stock valves and he puts on new springs, lockers and keepers. Also, if you need your car for driving just buy a used set of heads off ebay or the parts forum on this website for about $230. Look through the past threads, no one who has done business with him has had anything but good things to say.

$3000 is alot to play with if you have that much for heads alone.

like others have said you can get a VERY nice set of heads done up for $3000
or spend $2000 on the heads and the rest on the cam rockers timing set etc etc etc
ALL your power is in the heads and intake. The AFR do not flow what there ad says they will flow. They have a HAPPY flow bench.
If you can stand to wait for up to 6 weeks for them then I would buy bare castings and send them to a real good porter and let him do All the work, and send them to you ready to bolt on.The 227's need a offset valve train and that is more $$$ but not a big issue. You just have to get the right parts. $3000-3500.00 should cover it nicely, less valve train.I have a guy that does all my heads and does nice work and can convert a conventional set to LT-1 reverse flow cooling. There are also a number of guys on the board that can do them for you.

Gotta pay IF ya want to play and go FAST.But it is up to the individual weather he wants to make HP or just D*** around.
A '93Z is also 11 years old. Heads are BRAND NEW.
Yea the prices are high but that porter has to live too,and you pay for his "magic"on the head's.The good ones didn't learn how to do this overnight.IT IS AN ART and it takes a while to become an artist.

I have some mild head work done right now the valvesprings are comp cams 987 springs. the rockers are comp cams
1.6 ratio pro-magnum roller rockers. the pushrods are just comp cams magnum pushrods. I had the chambers cut to
put bigger valves in the heads. the factory valve size's are intake-1.94" exhaust-1.50". i had some manley stainless steel race flow valves. these are intake-2.00" exhaust 1.56". they should improve flow numbers over stock but not dramatically!!
I have the cc 306 cam right now but when i get my heads done i was thinking about having a custome cam done to accomidate the heads....
I just want some more power. im tired of playing arround with those 03/04 cobras i want to be able to pull up to one, and walk away no problem........
