Can I fix my Opti?

My optispark has about 1500 miles on it and is already acting up. First off, what could possibly make this thing go bad after such little miles? I know many of you have had this happen. I figure I might be able to fix this damn thing myself if I can take it apart. What special tools would I need to disassemble it? What should I modify inside if I do?

I have opti problems and read a lot about them. I'v never heard of anyone taking them apart and successfully putting them back together. even more so for new purchases which seem to break very easily.

This is a new GM vented opti? It will have a 1 year warranty.

Whoa really? Yea I got it from jason. Didn't know it came with one. Thanks shoebox, i'll call him tomorrow.
Oh, so what happens to these things? The one I took off looked like the original. What makes one possibly fail so fast?

Re: Can I fix my Opti?

On a vented opti, a common cause of failure is an aftermarket cam with the dowel pin too long. If not that, sometimes the rotor screws are not tight and will cause premature failure.
