can I convert to 95 - 97 oil pressure sensor?

Current oil pressure sensor is down by oil filter. Building a 383 with a '95 M6 wire harness and wanted to know if I could get the sensor that mounts next to EGR valve. I would rather replace into same position but I heard that the 95 wire harness won't reach down that far. So:

Can I install an oil pressure sensor on the back of my current manifold? I know this one uses the 1/8" threads.

Will the 95 M6 wire harness reach far enough to install a new sensor above the oil filter where it currently sits?

...why don't you just extend the (1 wire?) harness?

Because I'm trying to make this as hard as I can on myself.

Seriously, thanks though. I'll go with your way.
