Can I change the color of the LT4 intake
Can I change the color of the LT4 intake
Has anybody painted or powdercoated the LT4 intake a different color? My Z is black, so i don't think the red looks right. Is the intake powdercoated red or painted red from GM?? Also who would do this kind of work on the intake?
here is a pic of my stripped LT4 intake.

Getting the red off IS the hardest part!

Plan to do a LOT of bead blasting. There are better ways. That red powder sticks very well. Bret just removed the factory powder coating recently. It was difficult, to say the least. It's definitely "industrial strength".
Have you considered painting over the powder coat?

What color do you want it? You can paint over the powder coat.
I sanded mine down very well w/ a rough grit, like 800 or so. It has been a while, so I can't remember. Anyway, I sanded it, washed it, sanded it, washed it. Then, taped up all the holes, ect.
and used some Chevy Orange engine paint and went to work! It looks great, is still very glossy, and is NOT peeling or chipping in any area. It is the high temp paint, up to 1500* I believe.
If I had a website I would link, if you need a pic, let me know.
You don't have to spend all that $ on it, if you are willing to do a little work yourself.
