can a hotcam go into the 11's?
Re: can a hotcam go into the 11's?
A local guy went low 12s at 114-115 in an untuned hotcammed 6spd. With good driving and a nasty 60' with good weather and a hard running car, I think it's possible.

12.084 at 113 mph, 383 with ported heads, hotcam, auto w/ 2000 rpm stall, stock rear, nitto dr's, pcmforless mail order tune, no suspension and 3700 pound race weight.
I was wickedly close to 11's

I'd say the Hot cam can do 11s, I was running 112 mph with crappy 60ft times... I know the car with a tune could have done 114 mph, therefore with the right 60 ft times, 11's are obtainable.

I bet you Frank has some weight reduction also.

I wasn't taking anything away from him. You don't need to tell me the same thing I have heard a bunch of times on numerous threads over again like I am incapable of reading. People asked how its done, weight reduction is sure one part. Not saying Franks car is a stripper, but you can go pretty far in ET with alot of weight reduction. Hence 12.dohs bolt on.

No. Your follow up post wasn't needed plain and simple. Frank's car is extremely impressive, I wasn't taking anything from him. Your post acted like weight reduction doesn't mean anything. There is a write up with pictures how a group of people made a stock economy car 4 cyl run 11's or something to that tune by stripping off parts. (Mind you nothing was left of it) Weight is an extremely important factor in racing.

that article was from sport compact car and it was a stock sentra, and they had to cut the roof off of it and all of the body panels to get it to break 13's.
the post was never about the chassis, just the motor. is it possible? hell yeah. but when it comes to drag racing the chassis is important and should be assumed to be hand-in-hand with making power to get the car to go somewhere. many people don't realise that there are two sides to the coin or just don't want to put the effort into chassis work because big dyno numbers make superstars out of slow cars or maybe they just don't know.
