can fuel injectors get weak
Re: can fuel injectors get weak
If you mean weak like in spring pressure, no. The spring closes them, so if the springs were weak in theory, they would leak and cause a rich condition. There are other reasons you could be lean at idle but if it were from the injectors, it would have to be from a restriction. Over time, the additives in fuel will cook so to speak in the injectors after the engine is shut down. This "cooking" will produce deposits in the orifice tube that over time build up and impede the fuel flow.
Signs of restricted injectors can be, poor idle, poor performance, missing, hard starting, increased exhaust gas emissions(not sure which one).
Check the plugs for an indication of which ones are lean and go from there. Or just try having the injectors cleaned professionally either on the rail or off. Off would be better so they can be flow matched.
Also, if the injector has a wiring problem internal such as low resistance due to shorted windings or open from a broken coil winding. The PCM would set a DTC but may not set the SES. It might be advisable to scan the vehicle to see if any DTC's are set.
One last thing, put the particulars in your signature so respondents can answer your questions more effectively and not have to waste time asking questions. For example, on OBDII vehicles, you can turn individual injectors on or off while the engine is running to help pinpoint injector problems. OBDI vehicles you can not. If we knew what year you had, we could suggest certain methods of testing or help you avoid others since we would know what you had or didn't have.

Re: can fuel injectors get weak
it is a 93 z28 started all this after hotcam install the rockers are adjusted wright and the timing is rigth on and has a chip for the cam it has a new fuel pump new fuel pressure regulater and the ingnition is all 95 and up and it has a 20 over bore and at idle the fuel pressure reads wright on the money so it is leaning out under load.
