Can a decent 355 be built for under $3000??

I'm looking at 8.5:1, strong enough to handle 12-15lbs of boost. Can it be done on this budget? Not including pulling motor and reinstall.

Shortblock or longblock?

How much HP are you looking to make and how fast do you want to run? Saying you want to make 12-15 PSI is pretty useless to us...but might impress some people on hondatech or something

Well it's pushing over 400 now, so I would be safe to assume 525-575 HP. I'll go as fast as the car will let me without going crazy over budget.

Its all on my site. 3.8k with head work labor. Just because a shop charges thousands of bucks does not mean a shop that charges hundreds can do the same quality. Steal crank, Eagle I beam rods, and srp slugs.

That's great, but what's it run!

Hwo did you get a forged crank for $230 or whatever it was?!

$201, and I'd like to know, too.

Exact thing I'm researching right now, a budget (but strong) 355 SC.

Why I-beams? How much less can they take versus H-beams?

I'm not sure how much less, but from what I understand, they're lighter...so for an application that doesn't make the HP to warrant H-beams, you'd be kind of hurting yourself by not using a lighter I-beam, is that correct ?

No dyno numbers yet, but it rips pretty freaking hard. Track is to far to drive and risk transmission bomb. Did make a pull against my brothers Novi2k 306 stang in the pic and took him pretty good. 230 crank was one which the Manchinest had for a while, it was new, but ya he have gave it to me at 230 bucks. So you could add 300 bucks to the total. 4.1k. I beam rods where cheaper just as reliable in my case.

A friend of mine is building up his 383 shortblock for about 3k. Splayed 4-bolt mains, forged crank, rod, and pistons. Blower motor designed for 600+ HP. Got in on a GP w/ Combination Motorsports in the CZ28 GP Forum, and had the block work done locally, and had a friend assemble it for him.
