Can crank sensor just be unplugged?
Can crank sensor just be unplugged?
I'm probably getting a double roller so the crank sensor reluctor wheel has to go. If I can't tune the CPS out, the car will still run fine right?
It's unfortunate it has to be taken out though, with a scanner you can see any misses, and which cylinder they're occuring in if you have a crank sensor.

Maybe I misread your tone, but yea I might want to. I'm posting in LT1 tech, putting in a double roller, and my engine has a crank sensor, that narrows it down to 96 and 97 right? I figured that anyone who would know the answer to my question would already know that so I didn't list the information.
'96 SS, tuned stock PCM. I do need to know the answer because I already have my hands full with other car problems and don't want another one.

It will set off an SES light but it will run fine. The CPS in those years are simply used to compare to the OPTI output to check for misfire. It is not used in any actual functionality of the car. I was actually thinking you had a MSII ECU piggybacked on the stock ECU and was using the CPS to fire the injectors and spark.
Sorry for the tone, was actually dealing with Vista's damn activation thing again, second time it has disabled my computer because it THINKS i have a non-geniune copy of Vista.. i think Microsoft went alittle overboard on trying to stop software theft.
