can I replaced the cap, with just the crank pully off? the pully is still on, so I cant see the opti too well. Also, can it be done with the WP still on?

you have to pull the water pump and the balancer off. If you can get the pully free of the hub, you don't have to pull the hub off the crank.

IOW, the same stuff you would have to remove to replace the opti.

well yea everything normally would have to come off to get it out but there a few less bolts to remove by leaving it on the motor. for those who are lazy like me will go all out for this!

A few less bolts? You mean like 3? ...and those 3 are a lot easier to remove than taking the cap off. Not only that, it's usually much better to replace the whole thing, anyway.
