Can Bearing's Be Re-Used?

Like im just trying to use this as an example but what if i had just put brand new bearings in about 4k miles ago and i wanted to take the motor apart. Could I re-use those bearings or would i have to buy new ones? If I could re use them what would I just need to make sure that they get put back in where they came from or what? Thanks

As long as you aren't pulling the engine apart because of shredded metal or something, you should be ok. You should look at them when it is apart to verify there are no problems, though. Put everything back like it came apart.

NEVER reuse bearings since when you reassemble it how do you know what the setting was again? especially 4,000 miles later the clearances have changed buy the freakin new bearings and reset your clearances or come back to the board in a few 100 miles telling everyone you have this weird knocking sound and no oil pressure and no idea why?? bearings are cheap insurance unless you like rebuilding your motor every couple days

OK FU*KHEAD I just asked a question. I didn't need your lil rolleye comment's or stupid $hit like that There's nothing wrong with my motor, i'm just CURIOUS as to if you could reuse bearing's from an engine that is PERFECTLY FINE or not that's all. I'm not a fu*kin moron if it were completly necissary to replace something I would do it. I'm not the type to skimp out on buying something just to save a buck or two. Like I said i'm JUST ASKING A QUESTION

Wow, I feel like I am back in grammar school. Was that really neccessary for you to insult him after he answered your question. Personally, I would buy all new bearings every time I had to take apart an engine. Of course I have only helped as my dad did our boat motor a few times when I was much younger, but that was enough for me to form my own opinion on it. Its not worth risking your engine to try to reuse something as trivial as bearings.

Ladies ladies... come now. Relax

Yes you can reuse bearings if the clearances are still within spec & they aren't damaged... Mic the stuff & find out when its apart.

Bearings are however relatively cheap in the grand scheme of things, so I personally would just pick up another set
