I would question your tune before I called the cam the problem. Like I've said, I've run bigger cams at low rpms and NEVER had a surge/lug problem

EDIT: let me add, a mail order tune is not gonna be spot on for low low rpm, light load duty. That is something that takes a good bit of time to sort out. If you dont tune your own stuff its gonna be hard to have someone come out and spend time to work out minor driveability bugs. Granted there is a limit on what can and cant be tuned out but like I said, i've seen and worked on motors with bigger cams and lug down low just fine. 350 bored .060" over with a 280xfi 230/236 113 lsa .576/.570 cam with lower compression than optimal for instance. Stock converter...no issue. Had 3.73 gears with 28" tire then went to 3.90's.

Re: Camshaft Question

Lol, well, it easn't my car but if the tune is the problem then almost every hot cam car is tuned poorly. The two that I drove just seemed weak at low rpm, much weaker than the numbers would suggest....

Re: Camshaft Question

Hard to say, most cars have a mail order tune it seems but i've seen some posts say they have no problem with cam surge with hotcam. Its not the best cam for building power and keeping low end but I just wouldnt expect such a terrible loss of feel and off idle hesitation

How does your 846 cam feel?

I don't understand the concern with "lugging" the engine in an M6. Why would you do that in the first place? Downshift....

Sounds like any easy enough way to compensate, that was my thought anyone know what valve springs would work well with the hotcam? Aside from the obvious lt4 choice?

Personally, I'd use the PAC 1218's. They're great springs for mild cams and, inexpensive to boot.
