camshaft pin question

I just bought a cam from a later model lt1 so the pin is longer than the cam my 94 has. Will the pin in the new cam have to be replaced with a shorter one or will it still work with the non-vented opti?

As long as it does not interfere with the timing cover, it should be fine.

Shoebox, doesn't the pin need cut down to a certain length? I will soon be dealing with this as well and was under the impression that I needed to cut the dowel to xxx" length.

would it be easier and possibly more cost effective to just switch over to the vented opti, or are there other things that have to take place when performing this conversion?

I don't see how it could harm anything if it were longer (as long as there is no interference). Remember, this is in reference to a non-vented opti.
