cams and emissions

What characteristics of a cam lead to producing more or less emissions? Is overlap the main factor? I'm sure head efficiency has a part to play. Can someone just give me a run down of how duration, lift, LSA, advance/retard and overlap effect emissions. Thank you!

Yep overlap is the main factor. The tighter the LSA and more duration the more overlap you will get.

try the search. there is alot about this. alot of people speculate about which cams will pass and which won't and why. i put in my 224/230 112 a little under two years ago with the hopes that it might pass. i'll find out this may. Either way i think a fifty doller bill should make most pass.

yeah, listen to bret. i love the performance of the tight lsa cams i've had, especially this new one from bret....but damn my car stinks. an emissions sniffer would catch me from 100yards away.

You want your LS1 to be as high a number as possible and not go crazy on the duration. A good TUNE is mandatory.
