Cams For Dummies

well first off, i have no knowledge about cams what so ever.

http://www.fbodymotorsports.com/inc/sdetail/1302

i found this LT1 Hot Cam Kit, is this a good deal since it all comes together? are all these parts necessary to be "cammed"? or just recommended? i read about gains up to 50rwhp with this and headers together? and i see all other custom cams but i'm guessing those are usually for someone who knows what they're doing? and this would just be fine enough for me. i would also need to get my PCM retuned again? (already have it tuned from pcmforless) also any other useful information on the subject would be appreciated.

thanks everyone
Eric

oh yea, and another big question i had... is the install easy (not extremely difficult) to do in your own garage? or usually taken to a professional? and how much do they usually charge, for say this whole kit.

Maybe someone else could tell you where to look for a better price, I do know however that is way to much for that kit.

Too much money, you can get it from Summit for a hundred bucks cheaper and I have heard of people snagging them off of ebay for even cheaper. As for the tuning, the Hotcam is one of the few cams where you can get by on the stock tune, but it is still always a good idea to get a retune to get the fullest out of the new setup.

A cam is a fairly easy install, and if your father is a mechanic I'd expect that he shouldn't have any trouble giving you a hand.
