Re: Cams for a 95 stock LT1 TA
From what I understand is the 1.6 roller rockersr are going to give a higher lift that the 1.5rr. I think (don't quote me ) the LT1 cam stock with 1.5 rr.
Also the self aligning rr's dont reqire guide plates like the non ones

the dur@.050 is duration at lift .050 (again don't " " me) Sounds to me like you need to call the place you are getting the cam spec info from so that they can give you all the info about what the sell and guide you with your decission making to what you want (Goals)

Re: Cams for a 95 stock LT1 TA
so if i go and buy a comp cam 1.6, what else do i need to get? i know push rods, rockers, and springs. i am looking to do this swap myself also so any tips and advice would be helpful
Re: Cams for a 95 stock LT1 TA
well i have been looking around and i am not looking to buy till march, i basically want a good cam that will work with a stock setup right now but eventually if i get heads and i want it to be able to work with them. i might go FI down the road. i know that headers are also in the near future.
Re: Cams for a 95 stock LT1 TA
Sounds like you are looking for a cam that is small but big enough to make good power with heads and also be a good blower cam for forced induction. I really wouldn't know what to recomed do a search you will find a ton of info about cam suggestion you would really need headers to take advatage of that cam.
Re: Cams for a 95 stock LT1 TA
i dont know, i been looking on ebay and stuff for a good price, what does it mean "roller rockers" and the self aligning, what is the guide plate and what is it used for? i was looking on LS1 speed.com for cam setups. and i want and i want the 1.6, but i dont know what else i need. i mean i can order the cam itself easy, but what rods should i get and what rockers, do the rockers come with rods? and if i could i would like to find out a break down of a cam and find out what each part does if anyone has a link.

like these rockers what do they do? would they work with any ol 1.6 cam?
what are the guide plates for, and what are the locks and retainers?
once i do it once, i know all these answers are going to come. cause i will know what i need once i take the stock setup apart.

well, for starters. the 1.6 is not a cam. thats the size of the roller rocker. get self alighning roller rocker with a 1.6 rating.
a good cam for what your looking for is the LT4 hotcam. found on almost any peformance parts website. there is a kit available which you will find easily that comes with a hotcam, roller rocker, springs, retainers, and almost everything youll need.
if you dont know what all these things are you might not want to try this yourself. a cam swap is not a small easy job. its a big one. especially if you dont know what your looking at. it requires an almost total break down of the motor and alot of the engine compartment. i dont mean to be rude but its not something you want to try if you really dont know much about it.
you almost will want to do a timing chain, and a few other maintanance things while your in there.

I am going to have to agree it is a pretty big job that requires alot of time and research if you haven't done it before. You will need a good set of tools and some other specailty tools to do the job. Shoebox has a web page that has a cam install guide with pictures there you should be able to get an idea of what your in for.shoebox home page
