Camming An Lt1

i have been thinking about buying my brother an LT4 cam are 1.6RR`s a must when doing the swap? do you need anything else to upgrade a stock lt1. I have a cam in one of my LS1`s that needs nothing but ugraded springs.

All you need to do is upgrade the springs!

I would look it to a bigger cam...most people aren't happy with the hotcam after they've had it for a while...i just jumped and went straight with the cc306...you can find a used one cheap...got mine for 100 bucks shipped!

What he said, if your going with a bigger cam than the lt4 hot cam, I recommend upgrading the timing setup.

Here is what i'm doing next week!
CC306

EX-612 spring kit
CMotorsports timing set (double roller)
CMotorsports Cam swap gasket kit

I'd do the CC306, the upgraded springs, and the rockers...if it's in your budget. I don't like the idea of getting a used cam, but if you trust it, then it's your choice. The springs are definately needed, and the rockers can wait....you should also get tuned, but it can wait a little while if need be. There are a ton of things people don't realize when they upgrade things, it requires upgrading other parts as well, to get the full gain/reliability...

dont know if its true or not but i have herd that you need head work to run the bigger springs for cc306. might want to do some reseach on it before your get started.

Nope there are plenty off the shelf springs that can handle .600 lift w/o head machining

I have a cam around the same specs as the LT4 and would go bigger in a heartbeat, shoudl have to start with. just need bigger springs.

CC306 is my recommendation.

I would do that 306, with the comp beehive springs, and lighten that valvetrain up along with some Comp R lifters... nice little setup there....

geez I remember when I put a 306 in my car and that was considered the big bad boy cam...
