came across new block! what do do now??
well im picking up my new lt1 2 bolt block tomorrow for 75 bucks! the question is what to do now?? i like the idea of doing a forged 355 with a supercharger, cam and maybe a little head work, but this is a street car and its driven every day... maybe a turbo route woudl be better? but i dont like that rear mount stuff... im kinda leaning away from huge stroker kits like 383 or 396 cuz of gas prices, but i also am looking for a good amount of power for the money i put in it.. any suggestions? keep in mind this is a street car and never sees the track, and its also daily driven for now
Re: came across new block! what do do now??
IMO, a blower is easier to care for than a turbo. I'm like you, those rear mounted turbos look scary with all that plumbing running the length of the car. But the idea of being able to get to it easy for maintenance or repair is intriquing. I do wonder how much back pressure it causes, but that's just idle curiousity.
If you stay small like you mentioned 355, you can probably stay with stock accessories like TB, MAF and injectors. But, you never mentioned the year you want to use. 93 is batch fired, so the injectors are smaller than later years and has no MAF due to speed density. 94 and 95 are OBDI but 95 has a vented opti that 94 does not. Most after market cams support the vented opti mounting system since they have the bigger hole in them. From 96 and up, the system is OBDII and it presents some problems for us shade tree mechanics trying to pump up the power.
Just some ideas to confuse you with some more.
didn't mean to though.
