Re: LT1 to LT5

I've seen one in a thirdgen, they look like a TPI on steroids, if a LT1 fits in a thirdgen, im sure you could squeeze a lt5 in a fourthgen. WOuld it be worth it? THats the question.

Re: LT1 to LT5

The LT5 has no resemblance to an LT1, totally different motor. The LT5 was something 15years ago, today it would be nothing more than a show piece you could make an LT1 signifigantly more powerful for less than it would cost to get your hands on an LT5 much less the thousands you would spend making it fit.

not necessarily... the LT-5 is by far a supperior motor... however the aftermarket for it is near non existant... which means when you do find someone that boosts those motors up... your going to pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

But with 32v's .. common...

Re: LT1 to LT5

I don't know man, there are a few stroker LT5s out there that are making 550rwhp+ on PUMP GAS, ALL MOTOR. Those ****ers are bad ***. I couldn't even begin to imagine what one could do with a turbocharger.

But on a more practical level, i'd just stroke an LT1 and convert a set of 15 or 18* heads to reverse cool and use those. 500rwhp+ with that setup would be child's play on pump gas. Race gas and more rpm and you're looking at 6-700rwhp all motor. Head technology today for pushrod engines is absolutely amazing.

Take a look at the post times, you had not even replied when I wrote my reply, captain obvious . A lot of people think that the LT5 is a derivative of the LT1/4, and I know it has a lot of optential but just imagine what a cam swap amone is going to cost for just the price of aquiring one you could put together a mean forced induction system and LT1.

As for the fitment rumor has it Tim Allen payed GM six figures to shoehorn one in his Impala(b-body not w-body) they had to move the firewall I think, anything can be done but like Pasky said "would it be worth it?". My opinion and I believe the prevailing one is a big fat NO, that said it would be one hell of a wow factor at shows and surely draw a crowd.

You can pick up an entire ZR-1 for barely more than that these days.

Re: LT1 to LT5

youd have to cut your cowl and probably the window even, its a HUGE plenum. and if the motor fits between your strut towers, then good luck custom making headers and id feel sorry for whoever does a plug change. oh and by the way the cams on the LT5 are under .400" lift, so a simple cam change would make godly horsepower, just find someone who will custom grind a one off cam set. its that simple. lol

they were made 1990-1995. the 90-92 had 375hp and the 93-95 had 405.

i think its pretty impressive. but like everyone has said. youve got to have deep pockets just to operate that vehicle.....i dont even want to think about mods!!!!

Re: LT1 to LT5

You can find LT1 vettes with asking prices of $50k, and ZR-1s at $80k. Neither of which is relevant to what I said.

Quite a few ZR-1s have been showing up under $20k lately, and the other day a guy on CF was asking about one that was I think $16.5.

The engines BTW go for about $5k. When you could still get crate LT5s they were under $10k.
