I have a 94camaro z28 and I'm haveing a problem with it and I need help ....the problem is that when I step on it and I go over 40 it doesn't let me go any faster and my rpm go up and stays back at 2 and also when when my car comes to a stop and I'm holding the break it starts to accelerate itself

Re: Camaro z28

You appear to be indicating that when you attempt to go over 40MPH (in which gear - manual or auto trans?) the car will not go any faster, but the engine RPM goes up. If you have an auto trans, the trans could be slipping, if you have a manual trans the clutch could be slipping?

Does the engine misfire, stumble or bog when you do this?

What exactly does this mean:

my rpm go up and stays back at 2
It appears you are then indicating that the engine RPM stays at 2,000 RPM, and when you stop you have to hold it with the brake. Elevated idle can be due to a vacuum leak, a faulty idle air control (IAC) valve, or throttle linkage problems. Have you checked for any of those conditions?

Re: Camaro z28

Sounds like a slip to me if the rpm is jumping erratic
