camaro vs. cobra
camaro vs. cobra
right now i have a 93 z28 with no cats,flowmaster,CAI,3200 stall speed, high performance transmission, 3.73 gears, pacesetter long tubes and a chip. i was highly considering doing the full lt4 conversion with the heads and buying the intake manifold...my question is after these mods will i be able to beat a mustang cobra and if not what else should i consider? thanks

If you were referring to the new ones, after all the mods and the LT4 conversion I would think it would be a drivers race with you having a slight edge. Those blown cobras are badazz.
Re: camaro vs. cobra
yea i was talkin about the 03 and 04 they are pretty sick but do you think i should go a little more ratical with the heads? and if i dont get the lt4 heads what intake manifold should i put if i need it

It's going to take a lot of work to beat an 03/04 Cobra with an LT1, unless you're willing to go FI or a big shot of nitrous.
It can be done, but it's no trivial task. You're going to need about 400 rwhp to pull it off, and the suspension and tires to put that power on the ground.

Yup, thats a good point, you will need to get that power to the ground.
Re: camaro vs. cobra
yea i was just thinking of that but when i decide to do them im going to def. go with lloyds it will come out to less and have way more performance but besides gettin that power to the ground will my engine be able to handle all that power?

Re: camaro vs. cobra
I guess it depends on how you look at it.
If you want to take on a 2 year old supercharged Cobra with a 13 year old N/A LT1, you're going to have to spend some $$$ to do it all-motor. In one sense, it's not a completely fair scenario.
So there are some who would say that once you go to power adders, it's personal taste. Some people think nitrous is not kosher, but some do. In that case, going to 150-200 shot would make a modded LT1 (LE2 sounds good) really hard for a Cobra to beat. But you're going to need a forged bottom end in any event. You can take him N/A if you want to bad enough, but it will cost some $$$.
The guys talkin' suspension make a great point. Your Z set up really well to put it's power to the turf can take a supposedly "faster" car that's wastin' power fighting a stock suspension. Driver matters, too.
