Camaro SS MAF bracket?

Hi guys... First post, and with it I'm hoping to see if anyone can tell me where and how this bracket is used in the 96-97 SS's from SLP.

I made a clone out of a '95 Z28 and it's complete in every respect using SLP parts with the exception of this stupid thing... I bought it awhile back and just rediscovered it so I figured I'd ask so I can either use it or chuck it... :-)

Any pics of this peice in use would be appreciated!

Just in case nobody knows what I'm talking about check out this link:

Thanks in advance!

Bracket mounts right above where the water pump bolts to the block. The MAF rests on the U part of the braket.

Thanks for the input!

I took another look and figured it had something to do with that area near the ignition to support the MAF but I can't seem to figure how the configuration would go. ...Not that big a deal, but since I labored to replicate whatever SLP did to their cars the ****-retentive in me really wants to get this thing on somehow. Maybe it was only on the 97's since Jason states that his didn't have it. I'm thinking if I was able to get it on it would support the airbox-to-MAF enough to reduce the strain the box gets on the intake (mine are starting to crack under the strain).

Anyone have pics of this thing attached?

Thanks again!

The farthest hole gets bolted to the block above the WP and the other bolt hole goes to the head and that also holds the ign module.

Ahhhh.... I think I see what you're talking about Don. If I'm right the rear/block bolt goes to a "dummy" hole that's not otherwise used. However, from what I can see if I were to install this bracket in that location it wouldn't really mesh with the MAF well and could likely just be more trouble than it's worth.

Oh well, at least I (think) I know where it goes finally!

Thanks for all the help!

Rob, I am the original owner of my SS. I am not sure why some others have posted that that part is not on their SS. I can't explain why theirs is missing, but that bracket did come oem on my SSs.

Yes, one bolt fits into an unused tapped bolt hole on the block. It is a pain to install since you have got to remove a lot of stuff to get it in there. If you purchased the correct part, it will fit.
