Which cam would make more power between the CC306 and the GM847? Would one make more than the other stock engine to stock engine and then be different when compared to a modded motor? Or will one make more power no matter what?

Short answer is the 847. But it wants to spin a bit higher too.

Of all the cams I have had, the cc306 was my favorite for just normal driving. It really didn't drive much different than stock. The 847 is a happy mix. It pulls harder up top and longer.

So, taking that into consideration, and say you had a motor that would support 7,000 RPM out of the two, which would make more power?

Still the 847?

the 847 will have higher peak numbers
but when you talk about actually using it
if the motor can support 7grand the 847 will not run out of steam up there like the 306 will
so yes if your motor is built for high rpm 847 is def a better choice just choose gearing and or stall accordingly to help counteract the fact the 847 doesnt come alive till about 3 grand

When I first got my car back on the road after my heads/cam (847) install, before my tranny went, from a 2nd gear roll if I stabbed the gass the car would spin and then hook (thank you BMR tubular adjustable TQArm) then around 4800RPMs the *** end would start to slide out that's how bad the car breaks loost at the TOP of 2nd gear! It's amazing, go for the 847 My car is set to shift at ~6950rpms and loves every bit of it.

The 847 will make more power, but from what I hear the 306 is a GREAT street cam that is fun to drive. I am doing a 306 and basic rebuild on my motor this summer.

My 847 has great street behaviors, drives like stock to be honest.

yeah when i had the 847 it was in a 6speed and it def didnt drive like stock
but i jave the 306 now and a superstreetfighter 3500 stall in an auto
and imo it drives like stock minus alittle bit of surgeishness at idle when its just barly rolling

but i still liked the 847 ALOT more than the 306

Ditto to what everyone is saying.

Its easier to spin the tires at the top of second than at the bottom.
The 847 needs a little beefier valve train (not much, but if you are a minimalist you need more)

For sure the 847 though.

I love my current setup, with the progressive controller dialed in it a blast even on the street with street tires. Its like the vtac kicks in.

847 = more peak HP

But both of them leave a lot on the table in the mid RPM range.

Although there is always the guy like me that doesn't listen, Ace is hinting that its better to have a custom one designed for your needs. (So ver true)
