cam and valvetrain question

I got a comp cam 304 - 266Hr-14 a small cam and was wondering if i had to change anything in the valvetrain or would the stock work just fine. Im running the stock right now and seems to work fine just wondering if i should change it.

Re: cam and valvetrain question

for simple valvetrain reliability and the peformances gains i would say yes. I just wouldnt chance the stock parts holding up to any aftermarket cam. My stock bottom end didnt hold up to my CC305 with new comp springs and rockers. just my opinion though.

Re: cam and valvetrain question

I started out just to do heads and cam now I have a brand new motor. Just my opinion really to do so. Others have had luck keeping stock stuff with new cam, for a while at least.
