Cam swap questions

I am starting my cam swap on my 96 z28 and i am getting ready to disconnect the return fuel line and being that mine is an automatic, I have that box over the passanger side valve cover that controls my throttle and crap getting in the way. Is that my ASR ? and can I remove it and get it programmed out. If so, what would need to be done?

Been-there-done-that. First, you'll need the special tools (two sizes) to release the quick-disconnect connectors on the fuel lines (pressure & return).

The ASR servo linkage (throttle & cruse in one) should be disconnected from the TB. Remove the plastic cover and move the TB to WOT, slip the cable end out of the TB. The ASR bracked is then unbolted from the intake and exhaust support bracket. Leaving the wiring harness and other cables connected, just move the ASR servo over on the inner fender out of the way.

If you ever need to readjust the ASR servo and linkage, PM me I've got it figured-out.

Re: Cam swap questions

Its easier to leave the fuel lines connected. Unbolt the fuel rails and wiggle the injectors loose.

You can then move the fuel rail where ever you want, without ever messing with the connections. You will have plenty of room to remove the intake.

Re: Cam swap questions

Well, I already moved the ASR and unplugged the Fuel lines. No biggy. My question was, is there a way to get rid of the ASR all together or would that be too much of a trouble?? I think the thing is ugly and everytime I get into the car I automatically turn it off anyways...

Re: Cam swap questions

Im pretty sure that you can purchase the longer (straight hook up) throttle cable for the years before they had the ASR........I haven't done mine (yet).... I just remember reading about people doing it in the past......And I know what ya mean, it looks lousy, and clutters up the engine bay, and Iv'e had mine unpluged since the car was new
