Re: cam selection help.
Definitely get new springs. Don't buy until you've decided on the cam, but the stock springs are barely good enough for the stock cam/1.5 rockers.
Bunch of good choices out there: CC503, GM856, Hotcam, Crane 227.
You'll also want to get another stall, especially if you are stock gears.

Re: cam selection help.
Depends on what you want the car to do? Little more power than stock with mild lobes for high spring life for daily driver or weekend warrior trying to get the most power possible out of the stock heads with no concern for spring life?
Various cams for various applications exist.
503 is a popular shelf grind that is about the biggest you generally want to go on stock heads. Has a good bit of lope to it but driveable. Not a bad cam really. 330-340whp is common with 6spd cars and bolt ons/tune. Has decent spring life too since the lobes arent super crazy and lift is somewhat moderate/mild. Nice small diameter double spring would fit the bill or possibly the PAC beehives but I like double springs over beehives
