Cam recommendations for 396 solid roller?

I have a 396 solid roller, had it dynoed last week. Made 420hp & 379fpt. The numbers do not impress me, should I go bigger on the cam, Iam also running AFR 210cc heads straight out of the box. Don't know where the torque has gone to, thinking of going to a bigger cam, and have the heads reported. The current cam #'s are 242in. 254ex. 620lift.

Brian got a few questions for ya. What version of the AFR 210's do you have? Fully CNC'd or partial CNC'd, What size combustion chamber did you get and what was your final compression ratio for the engine? Also do you have full length headers? The Comp Cams PN 12-772-8 is my pic with those heads and street use. It is 248-254 @.050 and .614 - .621 lift with 1.6 rockers. Should make around 520-540 fhp with the fully CNC'd 210's and around 11 to 1 Compression thru longtubes and exhaust. I think you could definately benefit by having some more intake duration. That is the best I can do without knowing more about your combination and how you are using it. Street or Race or Both. Hope that helps a little.

You need to get some head work done most likely. AFR's out of the box arent all that impressive. Id keep the cam for now and see how much more the head work will help...
